What we collect — and do not collect
In this beta version, the only personal data we process is an email address from those who sign up for news or alerts. We use it solely to send what you have asked for. Your email address is processed and stored by our newsletter provider Brevo (EU-based) under a data processing agreement. We never sell, rent or share your address. There are no ads and no commercial interests on the platform. We aim for no third-party tracking cookies and no behavioural profiling; any necessary, anonymised operating statistics are kept to a minimum and described openly when the platform goes live. The map may also store your favourite bathing sites locally in your own browser (localStorage) — they never leave your device and are never shared with us.
Legal basis and your rights (GDPR)
The processing of your email address is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time — every email contains an unsubscribe link, and we delete your address when you unsubscribe. Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right of access to, rectification of and erasure of the information we hold about you, as well as the right to object. Requests about your rights can be sent to the project at hanshenrikheming@gmail.com. The formal data controller will be designated at incorporation, and contact details updated here.
Environmental data is about places — not people
The platform's content itself — overflows, treatment plants, bathing water samples and precipitation — is data about locations and facilities, not private individuals. When municipalities, utilities or companies are named, it is as public actors responsible for public infrastructure, always with a source and with the right to have an official response shown. We do not use value-laden labels about actors.
Liability and reservations
HavVagt DK does not produce its own measurements and never issues a bathing warning itself. The platform compiles official, public data and an openly described risk indicator, where green and yellow are advisory — yellow is explicitly our estimate — and red always comes from the authorities. The information is provided as is, with no guarantee of being error-free, complete or updated in real time. Always follow your municipality's official advisories and the signage at the beach, and use your own judgement. The platform cannot be held liable for decisions made solely on the basis of the views. We correct errors quickly and transparently with a visible change log.
Hosting and security
We aim to host within the EU/EEA and to minimise data as a default: the less we store, the less can go wrong. The specific choice of providers and an actual privacy policy will be published and versioned here when the platform launches.
Note: this is a descriptive text, not a legally reviewed privacy policy. It will be finalised and made binding when the organisation is incorporated.
